Nick Fintan mural with Kurri Kurri High School

The Wall Station recently teamed up artist Nick Fintan and Kurri Kurri High School to create a 9 metre long mural with students from their Big Picture class. Students were involved in planning the imagery and the text in the quote, as well as installing the mural with the artist in the corridor outside their Big Picture classroom.

Text in the mural is inspired by a quote by Malala Yousafzai who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.

“Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.”

The mural features portraits of Cathy Freedman, Lady Gaga, Anh Do, Barack Obama, Greta Thunberg and Malala Yousafzai.

What is a Big Picture school?
Big Picture Education is personalised, passion-based learning that puts students at the centre of learning. “Customisation is at the heart of many recent changes to our society and economy – so why not education too? The Big Picture design for learning is based on research that shows that we learn best when we are personally motivated. Putting students at the centre of decisions around what, how and when they learn is the key to nurturing the next generations of engaged, independent learners.” Jump over to the Big Picture website to learn more about this awesome way of learning.
